Upgrading Your Server 9-33
Replacement of Hard Disk Drive
Depending on the operating system and/or server management software to be used, hard disk drives
must be replaced in the defined procedure to manage the hard disk drives appropriately.
If Windows is used as OS and NEC ESMPRO Manager and NEC ESMPRO Agent are used as the
server management software, replace the hard disk drives in the following procedure. To do these
jobs, you should log on to the system as a user having the administrator authority.
The working procedure varies depending on the existence of the system partition and mirror volume.
Replace the hard disk drives in the procedure meeting your system environment based on the figure
on the next page.
To replace a hard disk drive in a RAID drive (RAID 1) with redundancy by SW RAID, you can use
the hot-swap rebuild feature.
If you are using the optional disk array controller, refer to the manual that comes with the optional
disk array controller to replace a hard disk drive.
