5.10. - Magnetic Contact
5.10.1 - The Magnetic Contact Sensor is a waterproof
magnetic reed switch type contact. It is typically
used to protect opening hatches, windows and
doors. Being a non-powered device it is
suitable for use with a wireless transmitter
(see Wireless Transmitter below)
5.10.2.
–
The contact uses a magnet in one
of its halves to operate a reed switch in
the other half. It operates by signalling when the two halves move out of
proximity (approximately 10mm). The Magnetic Contact is a Normally
Closed NC sensor.
5.10.3.
–
The Magnetic Contact should be fitted to opening hatches,
windows and doors that require protecting.
5.10.4. - The magnet half (without cable) should be securely fitted to the
opening hatch/window/door, whilst the switch half (with cable) should be
fitted to the corresponding fixed frame. The cable should be securely
routed back to the control unit;
if an extension is required suitable
connectors should be used (waterproof if in a potentially wet area).
5.10.5. - When using default configuration connect: -
YELLOW wire to one of the GroundOut terminals.
RED wire to the chosen Channel terminal (
e.g. terminal U (Channel 12)
)
The BLACK & BLUE wires can be ignored unless a tamper channel has been
set up in which case they can be wired in series into this channel (see
below)
