12.1 Mounting Positions of CPU Modules

CONCEPT OF MULTIPLE CPU SYSTEM

 : N/A

(1) When CPU No.1 is the Q12DCCPU-V

The positions of respective CPU modules are shown in Table 12.4.

(a) Mounting position of a C Controller module

Up to four C Controller modules can be mounted on the CPU slot (the slot on the 
right of the power supply module) and Slot 0 to Slot 2 of the main base unit.

(b) Mounting position of a Motion CPU

1) Up to three Motion CPUs (Q172DCPU and Q173DCPU) can be mounted on 

Slot 0 to Slot 2.

2) No Motion CPU can be used when the main base unit is the Q3 B or 

Q3 SB.

(c) "CPU (Empty)" setting

Empty slots can be reserved for CPU modules that will be added in the future.
Set the number of CPU modules including the empty slots in "Number of CPU" in 
the <<Multiple CPU settings>> tab of C Controller setting utility.
After this, set the slot(s) on the right of those for the mounted CPU module(s) to 
"CPU (Empty)" in the <<I/O assignment settings>> tab of C Controller setting 
utility.

(Example) When the number of CPUs is set to 4 in the Multiple CPU settings and 

two C Controller modules and one Motion CPU are mounted:
Install the C Controller modules to the CPU slot and Slot 0, and the 
Motion CPU to Slot 1, and then set "CPU (Empty)" to Slot 2.
