12. Interpolation
• Provided for the PIC Board and used when resolution is changed from 600 dpi to 1,800
dpi.
• Applicable only for continuous gradation areas.
• Converts the resolution of a target pixel. At this time, correction is made using the target
pixel and the ones adjacent to it in the sub-scanning direction.

Correction
• Makes necessary corrections using a correction table so that printed gradations have lin-
ear characteristics, since the image density of the input image data is not directly propor-
tional to that of the printed image.
14. Screening
• Creates density distribution of a predetermined pattern to enable outstanding gradation
reproduction.
15. High-Speed LED Drive
• Rearranges image data so that LEDs can then be illuminated and transfers the corrected
image data.
16. Intensity Correction
• A number of LED chips, each having a resolution of 600 dpi in the main scanning direc-
tion, are placed.
• Corrects variations in each of these LED chips by adjusting the drive current for each,
thereby ensuring that each emits a uniform intensity of light.
