Dedicated Service to the DS0 Channel
You may set some or all of the 24 channels to use Frame Relay. Note though, that only setting the default
will cause
all
channels to be used for Frame Relay. If any DS0 channels have been configured for Add/Drop
(using RVPoIP for example), they will be ignored and the Add/Drop configured PVCs will be used instead.
The number of DS0 channels used to carry Frame Relay is part of the service agreement, worked out by the
customer and the telco. The number of DS0 channels set for Frame Relay here needs to match the number
of DS0 channels that are being used by the telco.
DSO Channel Assignment Options
If you wish to use all 24 channels set the default menu to Frame Relay and set all of the individual DS0
channel menus to use <default>.
If you wish to use less than 24 channels, assign a subset of DS0 channels using one of the following meth-
ods:
•
Set the default to Frame Relay and then assign all non-Frame Relay DS0 channels to something else,
such as dialup;
•
Set the default to something other than Frame Relay, then manually set each DS0 channel menu to use
Frame Relay. If there are more than 12 Frame Relay DS0 channels then it is easier to use the first stat-
edmethod.
