RVP Over IP Configuration
The following pages provide step-by-step instructions for configuring a basic RVP_over_IP installation using
the LAN port on the EXTender 7000. To configure the system, you will set various parameters in the Man-
agement Interface (MI).
Note: This configuration does not support Local Dialing. To expand this configuration to support Local Dial-
ing, see “Local Dialing Configurations on page’ 66 for detailed instructions.
After installation, the system should be connected as shown in the figure below:

Prerequisites for Configuration
•
The PBXgateway II (at the corporate site) and the EXTender 7000 (at the branch office) must be physi-
cally installed properly and the network link between both devices must be installed and provisioned to
meet the “Network Requirements” defined in this document.
•
The network administrator must allocate an IP address for both units.
TCP/UDP Requirements
Ensure that the correct TCP/UDP ports have been opened to allow the EXTender to connect to the PBX-
gateway II through your company firewall. The following TCP/UDP port requirements must be met:
for Extending Digital Telephones
•
The remote unit uses UDP ports 12288 to 12544 to extend the telephones. The port numbers start at
12288 and increment by 2 to the total number of ports used. For example if you have a 24 port
EXTender 7000 with three phones connected, then ports 12288, 12290, and 12292 would need to be
opened.
To ensure access to these ports, you should open all the ports in the range (ports 12288 to 12544).
•
The PBXgateway II unit uses port 2698 TCP/UDP.
