12_PROBLEMS AND CAUSES
These tables summarise the most probable and recurring problems that you may encounter while working.

resolving the problem.
12.1_POWER FEED
The pick-up unit turns but not the
slat conveyor chain.
Tailgate not closed.
Operate the hydraulic system and
re-close the tailgate.
Adjuster of the disengagement
needs adjusting.
Adjuste the screws under the right
jack of the tailgate.
The pick-up does not rise or go
down.
Pick-up fulcrum hinge not
lubricated
Lubricate the fulcrum hinge.
Overloading of the feed inlet.
Swathes too large and irregular or
operating speed too high.
Remake the swathes with the right
size or pick up more slowly.
Swathe pick-up too much on one
side.
Pick-up moving evenly from one
side to the other.
Rpm too low.
Work at 540 rpm.
Tines of the pick-up throw up the
forage.
Pick-up speed too fast compared to
working speed.
Increase working speed.
Reduce the r.p.m. of the tractor’s PTO.
The tines of the pick-up overtake the
incoming forage.
Pick-up speed too slow compared to
working speed.
Reduce working speed.
Increase
the
r.p.m. of the tractor’s
PTO.
The pick-up does not collect over the
entire swathe.
The swathe is too wide.
Reform the swathe by making it
narrower.
The pick-up does not collect on flat
swathes.
The pick-up is too high.
Lower the pick-up using the selector
of the tractor.
Adjust the position of the pick-up
support wheels.
The pick-up slips and stops.
The safety bolt is broken.
Reduce the volume of the swathe by
half.
Raise the pick-up by adjusting the
position of the support wheels.
Remove the blockage and replace the
safety bolt.
Insufficient gathering of the product.
Tines of the pick-up ruined or missing.
Replace the tines.
