Drive Belt
Check that the drive belt tension is correct
while the engine is stopped. If the belt is
too loose, insufficient lead-acid battery
charging, engine overheating, poor air
conditioning, or excessive belt wear can
result. When you push the belt with your
thumb midpoint between the pulleys, there
should be a deflection according to the fol-
lowing chart.
The belts should also be examined to
ensure that they are not damaged.
If you need to replace or adjust the belt
have it done by a Maruti Suzuki authorised
workshop.

Readjustment:
4.8 - 5.6 mm (0.19 - 0.22 in.)
Engine Oil and Filter

Check that the engine oil you use comes
under the quality classification of SN.
Select the appropriate oil viscosity accord-
ing to the above chart.
SAE 0W-16 (1) is the best choice for good
fuel economy and good startability in cold
weather.
NOTE:
We recommend that you use MARUTI
SUZUKI genuine oil. To purchase it, visit a
Maruti Suzuki authorised workshop.
WARNING
When the engine is running, keep
hands, hair, clothing, tools, etc. away
from the moving fan and drive belts.
