4. Each station box has the following controls:
a. A 6-position rotary switch with the following positions:
(1) Position A: (marked VOR DME on flight crew station boxes
only, others are blank). Flight crew can receive VOR and DME
signals.
(2) Position B: (marked VHF). Only flight crew can transmit. All
crew can receive on channel selected on VHF controller.
(3) Position C: (marked V/UHF NORM). Only flight crew can
transmit. All crew can receive on V/UHF radio. Flight crew can
use the intercom.
(4) Position D: (marked V/UHF DRCT). Only flight crew
can transmit and receive on V/UHF radio. No intercom at this
position.
(5) Position E: (marked I/C 2). A separate intercom system for
cabin crew intercom.
(6) Position F: (marked I/C 1). Flight crew intercom.
b. A transmit switch. For use by flight crew only. Inoperative at other
positions.
c. A call pushbutton (marked CALL). When pressed, illuminates all
station box red call lights on all station boxes to attract attention. A
call light power ON/OFF switch is on the Navigator’s panel.
d. Intercom volume control.
e. Radio volume control.
VHF Radio
5. The VHF radio provides two-way communication in the frequency band
118.0 to 136.975 MHz at 0.025 MHz channel spacing. The equipment
comprises a transmitter/receiver unit in the radio bay, a control unit on the
right wall beside the Co-pilot (Fig 2) and an aerial below the rear fuselage.
The DC power supply is provided via a CB under the crew rest bunk.
