NAVIGATION INSTRUMENTS
General
13. VOR and DME control units and their display instruments are on a
pull-down panel above the Navigator’s desk. This panel must be retracted
for take-off and landing.
INSTRUMENTS
General
14. A standard flight instrument panel is in front of the Pilot on the front
panel and comprises:
a. ASI.
b. Artificial horizon.
c. VSI.
d. Altimeter.
e. Direction indicator.
f. Turn and slip indicator.
15. A P10 type compass is by the Pilot’s left knee.
16. The Navigator’s panel has a compass master indicator and an
additional altimeter and ASI.
G4 Compass
17. A G4 master compass is above the Navigator’s table with a repeater
above the cockpit main instrument panel. On the Navigator’s panel are
the compass controls: two pushbuttons marked ON and OFF respectively,
a DG/COMP switch and a dolls-eye that shows white (OFF) and black
(ON). Before pressing the ON pushbutton to switch the compass on
ensure that DG is selected on the DG/COMP switch to avoid damage
to the compass.
