3.3.8 Use of residual current protection devices
The device is equipped with an internal power rectifier. A short to the housing
can result in a residual DC current that blocks the tripping of the conventional
residual current protection device. For this reason, any RCD used must be an
"all-current sensitive" version of Type B.
When defining the trip current for the RCD, the leakage currents of the EMI fil-
ter, caused by the Y capacitors (<3 mA), as well as the capacitive currents
from the line shielding have to be taken into account.
3.4 Switch-on sequence
First of all switch on the voltage supplies for the control electronics (DC 24 V).
Only switch on the voltage supply for the power section (AC 115 V, 230 V, or
400 V) when the control electronics are already supplied.
Switch-on se-
quence when
using bus sys-
tems
When using a bus system, the control electronics of the IPC 300 must be per-
manently supplied with DC 24 V, in order to maintain the field bus communica-
tion.
S1 is used to disconnect the load.
If the voltage supply of the power section is re-activated via S1, the IPC 300
performs a soft start (soft start of the load to the desired setpoint value).
