By default, the VDX-6326 SBC is configured to automatically execute the first option after 15
seconds delay to launch the preconfigured NK.bin, a CE 6.0 OS runtime image file. For this exercise,
we need to launch the second option.
•
Press “
2
”, or navigate to the second option using the arrow up/down key (Load OS image
from development station with DHCP service) and press
Enter
.
Note:
The DOS startup’s default selection can be configured by modifying the system configuration file,
Config.sys.
For more information, refer to appendix N, modify the DOS selection menu.
When the second option is selected, the Eboot.bin Ethernet bootloader is launched by the Loadcepc
DOS bootloader. As Eboot.bin launches, it sends request to an available DHCP server to acquire IP
address and broadcasts bootme messages to the development station to request and download OS
runtime image.
After receiving the bootme messages from the target device’s Eboot.bin Ethernet bootloader, a
device ID is shown on the
Active target devices
list on the
Ethernet Download Settings
screen, as
shown in Figure 29.

•
Click and highlight the device ID listed in the
Active target devices
windows to associate the
device ID to the profile.
•
Click on the
OK
button to continue.
Note:
In the environment where there are multiple target devices connected to the same network
segment booting up and send bootme requests at about the same time, multiple device IDs will be
listed in the Active Devices windows. To identify the target device you are working with, make sure
it’s the only target device booting and sending the bootme request.
