Attention: When you handle Electrostatic Discharge-Sensitive devices (ESD), take
precautions to avoid damage from static electricity. For details on handling these
devices, see “Handling static-sensitive devices” on page 52.
4. If you are replacing the memory board VRM, remove the memory board and lay it
component side up on a clean, dry surface. If you are replacing the XA-32 chipset
VRM, see “System board component locations” on page 59 for the location of the
VRM.
5. Press down on the VRM retaining clip at one of the points shown. The end of the
clip releases from the slot. Release the other end of the clip from the slot and lift
off the clip; then remove the VRM from its slot.
6. Holding the replacement VRM by the upper corners, plug it firmly into the slot;
then install the microprocessor heat sink stabilizer.
7. Reverse the process in step 5 to install the retaining clip over the VRM.
8. If you have other options to install or remove, do so now; otherwise, go to
“Completing the installation” on page 86.
Installing a hot-swap power supply
The server comes with a minimum of one power supply and supports up to three
power supplies. If you install or remove a power supply, observe the following
precautions.
