Switch Name
Function
Stop
Sets the printer in not ready status. If this is pressed
during printing, the current line is printed before the printer is
set in not ready status.
Use this to stop an the alarm that sounds when an error
occurs.
To enable printing again, press Start.
Note: All switches, including the power and stop switches
function only when the printer is in not ready status
(after Stop is pressed).
Step Feed Up
Feeds the form forward about 0.14 mm (1/180 inch). To
feed the form continuously, hold the switch down. In either
case, the line number remains unchanged. Also used for
initializing.
Step Feed Up
Feeds the form backward about 0.14 mm (1/180 inch). Also
used for initializing.
Test
Tests the function and quality of the IBM 5400-006 printer.
Press Test. TEST PRINT MODE is displayed on the LCD.
The stored test print pattern is printed.
To exit the test mode, press Cancel.
Set Up Mode
Used to initialize the printer. For details, see 2.12, “Initial-
izing the Printer” on page 2-65.
Entry
Used to determine the writing of the initial values set by Set
Up Mode.
Pressing Entry and Cancel resets the ribbon life counter.
See 2.8, “Replacing the Ribbon” on page 2-33.
Cancel
Procedures for AS/400 connection and PC connection differ.
Connected to an AS/400 System: Press Cancel to
cancel a print request and erase data in the data buffer.
Also used to exit test mode or initializing.
Connected to a PC: Press Cancel to cancel a print
request.
Note: Whether data is erased depends on the applica-
tion. If the application does not erase the data,
the data is not affected by pressing Cancel.
Print Mode
Used to change the print mode. See 2.5, “Changing the
Print Mode” on page 2-13.
