Initializing the Printer
The following explains the initial set items in order.
Common Items
1.Interface Port: Specify whether you want to connect to a parallel port or to a
system.
Parallel Port:
Used when connecting to a PC.
System Port:
Used when connecting to an IBM AS/400.
Parallel Port Common Items
2.Emulation: Sets the control code used by the printer.
5577 Mode:
The same code as the IBM 5577 is used. This mode is
usually used.
ESC/P-C Mode:
ESC/P-C Emulation mode. If you use this mode, you must
install the ESC/P-C printer driver. For more information, see
you operating system manual.
3.Form Length: Selects the length of the form for one form header. The select-
able values are a between 3 inches (76mm) and 15 inches (356 mm).
Note: Match the application form length with the print form length.
4.Form feed depth Selects the length of form fed by one line feed operation. If the
set value is 6 lpi, the form is fed 1/6 inch (4.2 mm) at a time.
5.Print Mode: Select the printing speed and printing mode.
NLQ:
Prints at normal printing speed.
Copy Enhance:
Used to enhance copy capability. Set to darken characters on
a form.
High Quality:
Used to print quality of a ruled line in one direction.
DP Mode:
Used to print at a higher speed than NLQ. Print quality might
be poorer than NLQ. In applications where print quality must
be considered, check printing in advance.
Draft:
Used to print at a higher speed than DP. Print quality might be
poorer than DP. In applications where print quality must be
considered, check printing in advance.
Copy E High Quality:
Used when Copy Enhance and high quality are required.
Copy E DP:
Used when Copy Enhance and high speed DP are required.
Copy E Draft:
Used when Copy Enhance and high speed (draft) are
required.
