7. Set the con trols of the function generator for a sa wto oth w a v eform (see Figure 3-3) that
pro duces the desired p o w er sw eep.
F or ev ery +1 v olt at the EXT AM connector, The RF output is attenuated b y 10 dB. F or
example, the follo wing w a v eform at the EXT AM connector causes the RF output to sw eep
linearly from 05 dBm to 030 dBm ev ery 100 ms.
The p o w er sw eep can v ary from a low er to a higher p o w er v alue or vice v ersa, dep ending
on the slop e of the sa wto oth w a v eform. Note that maximum frequency of the sa wto oth
w a v eform that pro duces a linear p o w er sw eep dep ends on the v oltage excursion of the
w a v eform.
