SELF TEST

SELF TEST initiate a signal generator self test whic h v eries
the functionalit y of the signal generator and acts as a troublesho oting to ol. This function
requires no external equipmen t.
Caution
Prior to running the instrumen t SELF TEST, disconnect an y external
connectors from the fron t panel of the signal generator. High p o w er lev els
(+16 dBm) can o ccur during this routine.
When the SELF TEST routine is running, the display data en try b o x ashes messages like:
Running Self Test
presetting instrument
When the test completes without error, the display momen tarily indicates:
self test complete
After the SELF TEST is complete, the signal generator returns to the 4 INSTR PRESET 5 ( 4 I-P 5)
state.
If the test fails, the display indicates:
x=y wher e x and y ar e numb ers which indic ate an err or c ondition.
If a particular self-test segmen t failure makes running subsequen t self-test segmen ts
imp ossible, the self-tests will ab ort.
The self test creates some temp orary error conditions that cause the signal generator's ERR
Led and the display's \E" to turn on and remain on. This is c haracteristic of the self test and
do es not indicate an instrumen t or system failure. A true error condition is indicated only b y
the x=y display .
Notes
1. It is recommended that the error queue b e cleared b efore running the
self-test.
Error conditions are indicated b y either the signal generator's red ERR Led
or the display's \E."
