It is normal for the fron t panel LEDs (which include HP-IB LEDs and ST A TUS LEDs) to
turn on and o during an instrumen t self-test (for instance, at turn-on).

When the HP 70340A fron t panel HP-IB LSN (LISTEN) LED is on, it indicates that the
signal generator is addressed to listen to (accept data from) the con troller.
When the signal generator receiv es its listen address from the con troller, the LSN LED lights.
The LSN LED remains on un til the con troller sends the signal generator a talk address, a new
listen address, an ab ort message, or a univ ersal unlisten command.
When HP-IB activity o ccurs, the LSN LED is up dated only when the signal generator is not
busy pro cessing HP-IB trac. The dela y in up dating o ccurs so that the op eration sp eed of
the signal generator is not imp eded.

RMT LED
When the HP 70340A fron t panel HP-IB RMT (REMOTE) LED is on, it indicates the signal
generator is under the con trol of an external HP-IB con troller.
When HP-IB activity o ccurs, the RMT LED is up dated immediately .

SRQ LED
When the HP 70340A fron t panel HP-IB SR Q (ST A TUS REQUEST) LED is on, it indicates
that the signal generator is generating a service request to the external con troller.
The signal generator sets the Service Request (SR Q) bus line to TR UE when it sends a service
request. The SR Q bus line clears when the con troller executes a serial p oll or when the \clear
status b yte" command is receiv ed b y the signal generator. The SR Q LED is on during the
in terv al that the SR Q bus line is TR UE.
The instrumen t can send a service request in b oth lo cal mo de and remote mo de. In either
case, the SR Q LED lights. When HP-IB activity o ccurs, the SR Q LED is up dated only when
