*W AI (W ait-to-Continue Command)
*WAI
The \*W AI" command makes the Signal Generator w ait un til p ending op erations ha v e taken
place, then con tinues executing commands that follow the \*W AI" command.
The \*W AI" command is useful when placed after those commands that are not necessarily
nished executing b efore the next HP-IB command is executed when it is critical that they
b e nished executing. In general, SCPI commands execute sequen tially but the \*W AI"
command can b e used to allo w the hardw are to settle after a command is executed.

The \OUTPut:PR OT ection[:ST A T e]" command turns RF protection during frequency
switching on or o. This function is useful when measuring the Signal Generator frequency
switching time.
The parameters are as follo ws:
ON T urns RF protection on during frequency switching.
OFF T urns RF protection o during frequency switching.
The Signal Generator con tains an RF protection circuit that momen tarily attenuates output
p o w er and then brings the output p o w er bac k up to the required lev el (in 20 ms nominal)
when the Signal Generator output frequency is c hanged. This circuit assures that the output
p o w er do es not o v ersho ot the p o w er lev el set via the fron t panel or HP-IB during frequency
switching.
When the RF protection circuit is turned o, the Signal Generator will switch frequency
faster, but the output p o w er might o v ersho ot during the frequency transition. The p o w er
o v ersho ot can b e as high as maximum p o w er (as high as 25 dBm) attenuated b y the curren t
attenuator setting.
When the Signal Generator is set to the preset state, RF protection is turned on.
Notes
1. RF protection during frequency switching can not b e turned o when AM,
FM, or pulse mo dulation is b eing used. It can only b e turned o when the
Signal Generator is in CW mo de.
