Adjusting the metering unit
Before starting drilling some adjustments must
be made to the metering unit, these may need
to be adapted later during drilling.
NOTE
The data in the tables are guide values.
Depending on seed, working speed and other
factors further adaptations may be necessary
for fine tuning.
This fine tuning can best be made with the
test program in E-Manager - see E-Manager
instructions.
1. Selecting components
The required components are selected and set
according to the settings table (see next page).
¾
Select the fitting metering disc according to
the grain size.
¾
Install a metering disc on one row, see
Replac-
ing components.
¾
Set the grain feed gate to the specified stage.
Start with the lower stage.
¾
Select the ejection wheel, separator, scraper,
and grain dispenser as specified and replace,
if necessary, see
Replacing components
.
¾
Verify the settings with the test program in the
E-Manager, see section
Checking.
¾
After the test was successful, install the
matching components on all drill units and
perform the same settings on all metering
units.
¾
If the separation quality is not satisfactory,
install the metering disc with the next smaller
or next larger hole diameter and run the test
again.
¾
Select the metering disc that produces the
best singulation quality and install it in all
metering units.
2. Vacuum adjustment
¾
Activate the fertiliser fan and set the required
speed, see section
Fertiliser fan
.
¾
Refer to the settings table for the required
vacuum, see below.
¾
Adjust the vacuum while the fertiliser fan is
running, see chapter
Pneumatics
.
¾
Check on all metering units whether seed is
present at the seed supply.
¾
Check the pressure on the associated pressure
gauge.
NOTE
¾
Check the vacuum regularly during drilling.
Notes on pressure adjustment
¾
Once the operating temperature has been
reached in the hydraulic system, the fan
speed may require some minor correction.
¾
The vacuum must be adjusted, depending on
the grain shape, weight and conditions of use.
¾
The effects of changing the vacuum become
only apparent by testing.
¾
Set the vacuum as low as possible for sun-
flowers.
¾
Maximum vacuum: -65 mbar
¾
Check the vacuum once more during drilling
and adjust if necessary. The vacuum changes
when all metering discs are filled with grains.
Example (see Settings table)
•
