Grain feed gate
The filling level in the area of the grain pick-up
is controlled with the grain feed gate.
Depending on the position of the grain feed
gate, different quantities enter the area of grain
pick-up.
•
Position 6: maximum opening
•
Position 0: closed, to empty
If the seed quantity in the metering chamber
is too low or too high, the grain pick-up of the
metering disc deteriorates.
In addition, if the seed quantity is too high, the
function of the separator is compromised.
¾
For the settings, see
AirVac metering system settings
table
.
¾
When performing the setting, start with the
lower value as a tendency.
¾
Avoid seed bridging.
In case of missed seeds, change the position of
the slider, the hole size of the metering disc or
the vacuum level.
Check setting
¾
Sow for a length of approx. 50 m before each
check.
¾
Switch off the fan and remove the removable
half of the housing.
¾
Check filling of the metering disc and adjust
the position of the grain feed gate:

2
1 Setting OK
2 Close the grain feed gate more or position
it downward.
Check the setting again and readjust.
3 Open the grain feed gate further or
position it upward.
Check the setting again and readjust.
NOTE
The grain feed gate may jam easily if it is to be
positioned to the
0
position while the metering
unit is empty.
¾
Adjust the feed gate slowly and carefully.
•
Separator
The contours on the separator (a, see Fig.)
remove excess grains from the metering disc.
In the ideal scenario, there is only one grain
per hole on the metering disc following the
separator.
