3. Routine Inspection before Every Shift
27
1. Unlatch the strap clamp on the air filter housing and loosen the hose clamp.
2. Lift the engine filter housing and unlatch the three filter housing cover clamps.
3. Pull off the housing cover and clean the engine air filter housing.
Caution:
Do not wash engine air filter. It will damage the filter and may cause damage to the
tractor.
4. Inspect the engine air filter. If the engine air filter is heavily clogged, or you detect carbon
residues or oil deposits in the engine filter, replace the engine air filter. Otherwise, clean the
engine air filter with compressed air at a maximum pressure of 70 psi and reinstall it.
Caution:
Do not operate the tractor without an engine air filter. Do not use damaged filters.
Failure to comply will cause engine damage. If you attempt to operate the tractor with a
clogged engine air filter, alarm will sound.
Warning:
Tampering with alarm system will void your warranty and may be a cause of
injuries and damage to the tractor.
5. Close the engine air filter housing and secure its cover with the three filter housing clamps.
6. Reinstall the engine air filter housing, and secure it with the strap and hose clamps.
7. Verify that the engine air intake stack is sturdy and securely connected to the flex hose.
8. Ensure that the air intake hoses are not damaged and the clamps along the air intake path are not
loose.
9. Verify that the engine air filter housing does not move.
10. If you detect any faults or non-compliance, refer to
Troubleshooting
chapter. Otherwise, continue
the routine inspection and go to the next routine procedure.
19. Checking alternator and AC/fan V-belts
This routine procedure verifies that the alternator and AC/fan V-belts are in good condition.
Before checking the alternator and AC/fan V-belts, ensure the following:
1. The dump platform is secured with the safety support, and the lock pin is installed.
2. The ignition key is not in the ignition and the engine has not been running in the last five
minutes
To check the alternator and AC/fan V-belts:
Warning:
Dump platform can unintentionally fall down if not secured properly. Failure to
comply could result in serious or fatal injuries.
Caution:
Engine and exhaust system become very hot when the engine is running.
