ATLAS Series™
5.4.2
Module Phasing Procedure
GOAL: Get all reject load power level readings below 0030 with the GAIN
button set to "LOW" (or under 0100 with the GAIN button set to "HIGH").
(A secondary goal would be to leave all modules as close to a 0512 phase reading as
possible, although this is not required and will not actually improve performance).
STEP 1
Start on the left side with buttons 1 & 2 and
work your way to the right. Changing
module phasing will affect the phasing of
the module groupings further to the right.
STEP 2
Check the reading just below the bargraph.
If it is below 0030, then go on to the next
one. Module 1&2 do not require
adjustment in the example to the right.
STEP 3
When you get to a reading above 0030,
press one of the buttons below that reading,
such as the #4 module button shown here
or you could choose the #3 (either one will
work). Note the phase numbers at the
bottom of the screen before you start.
STEP 4
Press the (+ or -) phase adjust buttons to try
to lower the reading (and bargraph). Tap
for fine adjustment or press and hold the
button for faster action. Go back an forth
between the 2 buttons under the bargraph
and try to minimise the reading using the
phase adjust buttons. Try to keep the
readings close to or centered around 0512.
STEP 5
Once the individual modules are phased (1-8), keep working to the
right, phasing the pairs and the groups of four. Repeat STEP 3 and
STEP 4 for each reading or bargraph above 0030.
STEP 6
For multiple cabinet transmitters only
, select the large
CAB 2 button and repeat the previous steps. Once the PA
modules in Cabinet 2 are optimised, the last step is to
adjust the cabinet phasing. Figure 5-4 shows the cabinet phasing
buttons and bargraph active as they would be in a 2 cabinet system.
NOTE:
Once a reading is below 0030 on the Low Gain setting, a finer adjustment
can
be made by pressing the Gain button, but this is
not required
. This will tog-
gle the gain to HIGH giving better resolution at the smaller reject voltage lev-
els, allowing finer adjustment. The reject reading should now be adjusted to
less than 0100.
