Section 2 Installation / Initial Turn-On
ATLAS Series™
2.11 3 Port U-Link Panel Connections
Refer to the Electrical Installation drawing 843-5550-189 or 843-5550-218 for the
following connections:
Connect X1-1 and X1-2 on the U-Link panel to J18-1 and J18-2 (respectively)
on the External I/O Board in the transmitter.
This is the transmitter external
interlock input and will shut the transmitter off if the U-Link is removed during
operation. A closed contact between J18-1 and J18-2 is required for the transmitter
to operate. Specified wire is 16-2-2C (screened) 2 conductor cable.
!
CAUTION:
ALWAYS SHUT THE TRANSMITTER OFF BEFORE REMOVING THE U-LINK TO
PREVENT POSSIBLE DAMAGE TO THE CONTACTS.
Connect one jumper between X1-3 and X1-4 and another between X1-5 and
X1-6 on the patch panel.
This places the U-Link microswitches in series with the
interlock line to the transmitter. These may already be installed. This will only
allow the transmitter to be turned on if the U-Link is installed.
Connect the U-Link status switches S1B and S2B to the RF switch status inputs
on J14 of the External I/O Board in the transmitter.
This allows the GUI to
display the position of the U-link panel and will cause a transmitter mute if neither
of these connections are pulled low. Specified wire is 7-2-4C (screened) 4
conductor cable. These four connections include:
•
X1-7 to J14-3
•
X1-9 to J14-4
•
X1-8 and X1-10 both connect to J14-6 (ground)
*
Verify these connections with the Electrical Installation drawing 843-5550-189 or
843-5550-218.
NOTE:
If an RF switch is used in place of the 3 port patch panel then an additional con-
nection of the RF_SW_SEL_OUT at J15-9 on the External I/O board will have
to be connected to the select input on the switch. This output is a TTL open col-
lector, active low, momentary signal meant to cause a switch to the opposite
position. The rf switch should then latch in that position until pulsed again.
IMPORTANT: This note only applies to systems without a patch panel or rf switch.
If no patch panel or switch is to be installed in the transmitter RF output line, then a
jumper must be placed on the External I/O board from J14-3 (RF_SW_A_STAT) to J14-1
(ground).
