Theory of Operation

4.1
Introduction
This section contains detailed descriptions of the Atlas Series transmitter and its
internal sub-assemblies and any pertinent information regarding the external
assemblies such as the pump module and heat exchanger. Due to the modular make-
up of the transmitter all versions of the Atlas Series transmitter are covered by this
manual. Model differences will be discussed throughout the text as needed.
The Atlas Series™ UHF transmitter has 8 liquid cooled power levels, not including
dual transmitter configurations. The models are listed in Table 4-1. A fully
populated single cabinet transmitter is the DVL 3000, with 8 modules, an 8-way
module combiner and 4 power supplies as shown in Figure 1-2 on page 1-4.
Achievement of the lower power levels is accomplished by removing PA modules
and power supplies and changing the module combiner. The higher power levels of
4.3kW and 5.7kW, shown in Figure 1-3 on page 1-5, are achieved by adding a
second PA cabinet and a cabinet combiner.
