Preventive maintenance
CAUTION
Never use solutions or products that contain the following:
Any type of Ammonium Chloride such as, but not limited to,
Dimethyl Benzyl Ammonium Chloride and Quaternary
Ammonium Chloride solutions
Abrasive cleaners or solvents of any kind
Acetone
Keytone
Betadine
Alcohol-based cleaning agents
Sodium salts
The following consequences can occur if you do not follow the cautionary guidelines
when cleaning the equipment:
Product discoloration.
Melting, dulling, or distorting of the device case.
Brittle and breaking device case.
Blurring the lettering on label text.
Equipment malfunction or failure.
Void warranty.
Cleaning products known to cause the types of problems listed previously include,
but are not limited to:
Sani-Cloth
®
Wipes
Ascepti
®
Wipes
HB Quat
®
Clorox
®
Wipes (they do not contain bleach)
Over-the-counter detergents (e.g., Fantastic
®
, Tilex
®
, etc.)
Products that contain active ingredients and solutions similar to these products should
be avoided.
External surfaces
NOTE
Any contact of the disinfectant solutions with metal parts may cause corrosion.
Clean the exterior surface as required in compliance with your institution’s infection
control and biomedical engineering department.

For cleaning all displays, including touchscreen and standard displays, you may
turn off the power to the touchscreen and standard displays before you start
cleaning the displays.
2.
For cleaning the equipment, wipe the exterior with a soft lint-free cloth, using the
following solution as recommended in the APIC Guidelines for Selection and
Use of Disinfectants (1996):
