You can watch the terrestrial analog TV broadcasting (VHF/UHF) that is
viewable on your home TV.
It has been decided by the Japanese government that the analog TV
broadcasting is scheduled to close towards July 2011. (As of December 2005)
After the closure of the analog TV broadcasting, the related functions are no
longer available.
p You cannot use the FOMA phone to watch text broadcasting on the
analog TV broadcasting.

Watching TV program while you are charging
When you want to watch an analog TV program while you are charging the
battery, attach the Noise Filter. (See page 46)
If you continue to watch a TV program for a length time during charge, the
operating life of the battery might be shortened.

Antenna
When you watch a TV program, use the TV antenna or the Stereo Earphone
Set with Built-in Antenna P01 as the antenna. Fully extend the TV antenna and
then watch the TV. However, when you watch channel 1 through 12 of the
analog TV (VHF), connect the Stereo Earphone Set with Built-in Antenna P01.
Reception sensitivity might be improved.
p On the digital TV, the sensitivity might be improved if you use both antennas.
p When your TV does not show clear images, you may be able to show
clearer images if you put the FOMA phone away from your body, or move
to other places. The images on the TV might be clearly shown when you
turn down the antenna or change its direction.
p
When you change the direction of TV antenna, do not force it.
p The performance of the earphone with built-in antenna other than the
Stereo Earphone Set with Built-in Antenna P01 is not guaranteed.

Message shown in the display when you save information to the
broadcasting storage area for the first time
When you save information to the broadcasting storage area for the first
time, the message “Reserve storage area? Entered information will be
saved and used by the same broadcasting group” is displayed. Select
“YES” to enable you to write in the broadcasting storage area. If you
select “NO”, you cannot use the services available from the broadcasting
storage area until the TV program you are watching is finished.

Message shown in the display when you read information from
the broadcasting storage area
When you use the information from the broadcasting storage area while you
are watching a program, the message “Use saved information? Information
used by same broadcasting group may be included” is displayed. If you
select “YES”, the confirmation display whether to read out the stored
information while watching the same program does not appear after that.
About Analog TV
Before Using TV
Retract the antenna
by holding the lower
part until it is held
back.
Pull the antenna out
as far as it goes.

Switching TVs
To switch between the digital TV and analog TV, you need to finish
watching.
■
Battery level
<Digital TV>
If you try to start the digital TV with the battery level low, a confirmation
display appears asking whether to start it. Select “YES” to start the digital
TV. Select “NO” to return to the former display.
Also, when the battery level becomes low while you are watching the digital
TV, a confirmation display appears asking whether to end the TV. Select
“YES” to end the digital TV. Select “NO” to consecutively watch the TV.
When the FOMA phone is closed, “LOW BATTERY” appears on the Private
window.
p You can have about 30-minute voice communications with the battery
level when the confirmation display appears while you are watching TV.
p If the battery level becomes low while you are recording a program and
you end watching the digital TV, the video recorded up to that point is
automatically saved.
<Analog TV>
When the “ ” icon that indicates the current battery level appears, you
cannot watch an analog TV program. Also, when the “ ” icon appears
while you are watching the analog TV program, the message appears telling
that the remaining battery level is short, the analog TV session is closed,
and then the Stand-by display returns.
p Even when the “ ” icon appears, the analog TV program might be
finished or no longer can be watched depending on the condition.

When calls etc. come in while you are watching TV
When the events shown below occur while watching the digital or analog
TV, the video and audio are suspended, and each function will work:
After you finish each function, you can resume watching TV.

p Incoming video-phone call

Receiving i-mode mail, SMS, Message R/F
(when “Receiving display” is set to “Alarm preferred”)
p Notification of Alarm, Schedule, ToDo, Book Program
(when “Alarm setting” is set to “Alarm preferred”)
Information
p The TV might automatically start when you end a call by changing the
style of the FOMA phone during a call. In such a case, be careful that
you hear it at the sound volume for the TV program at your ear.

Important ■
The saved contents may be lost or changed owing to a malfunction,
repair, or other mishandling of the FOMA phone. Note that we cannot
take any responsibility for the loss of data.
Further, we cannot move the stored information such as videos or still
image recorded from digital TV, TV links, or a broadcasting storage area
when making model changes or doing repairs, so you are advised to take
a note of data stored in the FOMA phone and store it separately.
