DRO MODE OF OPERATION
4
4.1.1 PART CENTERING
It permits the calculation of the part’s center using the tool itself and without the need
for accessories specially designed for this operation.
The part centering can be performed when working either in absolute or incremental
mode.
Once the center of the part is found, the DRO will take that point as the new Part Zero
(Absolute) of the selected reference and it will modify the Floating Zero to keep the
original distance between the two of them the same.
To select this function, follow these steps:
*
Press
and select “SPECIAL FUNCTIONS”.
*
Select “PART CENTER CALC.”
Indicate the two axis forming the main plane where to center the part.
To perform the part centering operation, follow these steps:
*
Touch the part’s most negative side along the first axis.
Press the ACCEPT softkey.
*
Take the tool to other side of the part and touch it with it.
During this operation all the other axes except the one forming the main plane can
be moved.
Press the ACCEPT softkey.
*
Repeat this operation with the other axis first touching the positive side and then
the negative.
*
Press the CALC softkey.
If when working with absolute coordinates “ABS”, the axes are moved until the DRO
reads zero for all axis displays, the tool will be positioned at the center of the part.
