MACHINE PARAMETERS
Example 4:
To obtain a 0.001 degree resolution on a rotary axis with a sinewave
encoder.
The multiplying factor that the DRO applies to sinusoidal feedback signals
can be x5, x10, x20 or x25 besides x2 and x4. Therefore the obtainable values
are:
x2
x4
x5
x10
x20
x10
x20
x40
x20
x40
x80
x25
x50
x100
The encoder must provide the following pulses per turn.
360 degrees
number of pulses =
Factor x Resolution
Using a FAGOR sinewave encoder of 3600 pulses per turn, the multiplying
factor to be applied will be:
360 degrees 360 degrees
Factor =

= 100
nr. of pulses x Resolution 3600 x 0.001 degrees
Px05 = SINEWAVE
Px06 = ROTARY
Px07 = MM/DEG
Px10 = x4
Px11 = x25
Px12 = 0.001
Px13
Indicates the display resolution used for this axis. the value assigned to this
parameter must be equal or greater than the one assigned to Px12 (feedback or
counting resolution).
When using a probe, the DRO will send the format selected in this parameter for
the transmission of axes position data out to a peripheral or computer via
RS232C.
The calculations for leadscrew error compensation, tool compensation, etc, are
always performed at the counting resolution indicated in Px12.
