Connecting To The BNC Port
Continuing from step 2 of the Start Up procedure, perform the following procedure to
connect the ChannelWorks Bridge to Ethernet network using the BNC port:
Caution - When connecting to ThinWire, make sure cables are properly terminated.
Unterminated cables connected in this process could also hang your existing network.
Achtung - Achten Sie beim Anschluß an ThinWire darauf, daß die Kabel ordnungs-
gemäß mit einem Abschlußstecker versehen wurden. Kabel ohne Abschlußstecker, die
an diesen Prozeß angeschlossen sind, könnten auch ihr vorhandenes Netzwerk beein-
trächtigen.
Attention - Lors d'une connexion à ThinWire, vérifiez que les câbles comportent les
terminaisons appropriées. Les câbles dépourvus de terminaisons et connectés selon la
procédure décrite risquent de provoquer l'arrêt intempestif du réseau existant.
Precaución - Al realizar una conexión a ThinWire, asegurarse de que los cables tengan
los terminadores correspondientes. La inclusión de cables desprovistos de terminadores
en una conexión de este tipo puede provocar la parada de la red existente.
1. Connect the ChannelWorks Bridge to the Ethernet network by attaching a Thin-
Wire T connector to the BNC port on the rear of the ChannelWorks Bridge and
then connecting a segment of ThinWire cable to the ThinWire T connector.
2. Connect the rest of the Ethernet network to the other side of the ThinWire T con-
nector or attach a 50-Ohm terminator, if the connection ends here.
3. Select the BNC port by pushing the Ethernet Port Selection Switch In.
The switch is located on the rear of the unit between the RJ-45 port and the BNC
port.
