Starting The ChannelWorks Bridge 4-3
Start Up
Before starting the sequence below, read through the steps thoroughly and make sure
you understand them. If the following process fails at any point, turn off the power and
refer to Chapter 5. To start up the unit, perform the following steps:
1. Turn the unit off, but leave it connected to the power outlet. Do not connect any of
the network cables.
2. Attach the cable TV cables to the ChannelWorks Bridge. Follow the procedure
that describes your particular cable TV network.
For single-cable networks, “Connecting to A Single-Cable, Cable TV Network.”
For dual-cable networks, “Connecting to A Dual-Cable, Cable TV Network.”
These procedures immediately follow this one.
3. Attach the Ethernet network cable to the appropriate port on the ChannelWorks
Bridge.
Follow the procedure that describes your particular Ethernet network, “Connecting
to the AUI Port,” “Connecting to the BNC Port,” or “Connecting to the RJ-45
Port.” These procedures are located at the end of this chapter.
• If you are using ThinWire Ethernet (BNC connector), make sure the Ethernet Port
Selection Switch on the back of the unit is in its In position. (Refer to Figure 4-1
for the location of the Ethernet Port Selection Switch.)
• If you are using thickwire or Twisted-Pair Ethernet, make sure the Ethernet Port
Selection Switch, on the back of the unit, is in its Out position.
