Camshaft removal and installation

7. Remove the camshafts from the cylinder head.

To Install:

1.  Use clean engine oil to coat the camshafts.
2.  Install the camshafts into the cylinder head.
3.  Attach a J 44221 camshaft holding tool to the camshafts. Make sure cylinder 1 is at

top dead center and the camshaft flats are facing up.

4. Attach the camshaft caps to the cylinder head. Torque the bolts to

106 in-lb (12

Nm)

.

5.  Detach the J 44221 camshaft holding tool from the camshafts.
6.  Install the camshaft sprockets onto the camshafts.
7.  Detach the J 44222 camshaft sprocket holding tool from the camshafts.
8.  Install the bolt and washer into the intake camshaft sprocket. Torque the bolt to

lb-ft (20 Nm)

9. Use a J 36660-A torque/angle meter to turn the intake camshaft sprocket bolt

an

additional 100 degrees
