J 24319-B steering linkage and tie rod puller  

 

4.  Use a J 24319-B steering linkage and tie rod puller to detach the outer tie rod from 

the steering knuckle.  

5.  Remove the outer tie rod from the inner tie rod by loosening the jam nut.  
6.  Check the shaft for bent or damaged threads.  
7.  Make sure the tapered surfaces of the steering knuckle are clean.  

To Install:

  

1.  Use chassis lubricant to coat the threads of the inner tie rod.  
2.  Use a new jam nut to install the outer tie rod into the inner tie rod.  
3.  Install the outer tie rod onto the steering knuckle.  
4.  Install the new retaining nut into the outer tie rod. Torque the retaining nut to 

44 ft-

lb (60 Nm)

.  

5.  Install the wheel onto the vehicle.  
6.  Lower the vehicle.  
7.  If necessary, adjust the front toe setting.
