NOTE: T he following instructions are not applica-
ble on SDI m odels. See COMPONEN T INSPEC-
T ION AND ADJUS T MEN T concerning fuel pu m p
procedure on these m odels.
REMOVAL
Re m ove air intake silencer and carburetors.
NOTE: Do not disconnect cables fro m carbure-
tors.
Install a hose pincher (P/N 29 5 000 076) on fuel
supply line close to pu m p inlet.

Disconnect fuel outlet line(s).
Disconnect i m pulse line.
Re m ove screws securing fuel pu m p to chassis.
PUMP VERIFICATION
Check fuel pu m p valves operation as follows:
Connect a clean plastic tubing to the inlet nipple
and alternately apply pressure and vacuu
m with
pu m p of leak test kit. T he inlet valve should re-
lease with pressure and hold under vacuu m .
Repeat the sa m e procedure at the outlet nipple.
T his ti m e the outlet valve should hold with pres-
sure and also under vacuu m .
NOTE: Plug re m aining outlet with finger while
checking outlet valve.
Check i m pulse diaphrag m and gasket on fuel
pu m p with twin outlets as follows:
Connect a clean plastic tubing to the i m pulse nip-
ple and plug vent hole on top cover on so equipped
m odels. Either apply pressure or vacuu m . T he di-
aphrag m /gasket m ust not leak.
CLEANING AND IN S PECTION
T he entire pu m p should be cleaned with general
purpose solvent before disasse m bly.
Fuel pu m p co m ponents should be cleaned in gen-
eral purpose solvent and dried with co m pressed
air.

WARNING
S olve n t with low flash poi n t such as gasoli n e,
n aphtha, be n zol, etc, should n ot be used as
each is fla mm able a n d explosive.
Inspect diaphrag m . T he pu m ping area should be
free of holes, tears or i m perfections. Replace as
needed.
