16. Cup your hand and place it over the re m ote
reservoir. Pu m p with your hand to circulate oil
through the base valve (adjust m ent syste m ) to
re m ove any trapped air. Low speed adjuster
m ust be open 1 turn m ini m u m .
17. Fill the re m ote reservoir with oil. Lubricate
O-ring seal on floating piston with shock oil
and install.
T he key to good shock perfor-
m ance is to re m ove all the air fro m shock body,
reservoir, and valve stack.
1 8 . Push the floating piston to the botto m of the
re m ote reservoir. Oil will rise in the m ain shock
body al m ost to the top.
19. Fill the shock body with oil until level with bot-
to m of threads.
20. Lubricate seal around piston and valve stack
and gently push into m ain shock body.
21. Stroke the piston and valve stack slowly to re-
m ove any trapped air. Using a s m all ha mm er
or wrench, gently tap on the shaft m ounting
eyelet to help re m ove air.
22. Again, push the floating piston to the botto m
of the re m ote reservoir.
23. Pull the shock shaft as far out as possible and
replace the seal cover and torque to 8 9-101 N• m
(66-74 lbf•ft). Oil m ust spill fro m the shock body
before the seal cover O-ring seals the shock.
24. Install the re m ote reservoir cover. Install the
retaining clip. Pull cover to seat against the re-
taining clip. Make sure the cover is fir
m ly seat-
ed against the retaining clip before filling with
gas.
25. Install air inlet valve.
26. Pressurize the shock at 206 8 kPa (300 PSI)
with nitrogen. Use the correct needle tool (P/
N 529 035 614).
27. Install the safety screw into the air inlet valve
and clean your shock with Bo m bardier Sheave
Cleaner.
