• Voltage Readings
W
hen testing the different

agneto co

ponents,

portant to take into consideration that read-
ings vary according to the force applied onto the

anual starter. It is therefore i

portant to e

ploy
enough force upon each trial.

range indicated in the corresponding table. If the
reading is too low, the part is considered to be
defective and

ust be replaced.
• Resistance Readings

It is difficult to

ake a diagnostic in the case of in-
ter

ittent ignition proble
m
s.

curring only when the engine operating te

ture is nor

al

ust be checked in si
m
ilar condi-
tions.
In
m
ost cases when proble
m
s are caused by te
m
-
perature or vibrations, these can only be solved
by replacing parts. Most proble
m
s cannot be de-
tected when the engine is stopped.
• Multiple Proble
m
s
As a
m
atter of fact,
m
ore that one co
m
ponent can
be defective. As a result, if the proble
m
re
m
ains
although a part was replaced, start over the whole
verification fro
m
the beginning in order to identify
the other defective co
m
ponent.

During this operation, it is i

portant to use the
snow
m
obile spark plug and not a new one. Bring
the plug in contact with the engine. Pull rewind
starter. If no spark is produced, replace the spark
plug with a new one and do the test again.
