Color Mode
The
Color Mode control defines the color
mode if scanning in color or the algorithm
used for binarization in binary mode. The
choices are: 24bit color; 8bit color; Binary;
Grayscale; and Photo.
There are some interdependencies between
this control and the File Format settings
(e.g. a File Format of PNM is available from
the drop down list when a Color Mode of
24bit Color is selected. Selecting a File
Format of PNM; however, automatically
changes the Color Mode to Grayscale).
File Format
The File Format designates the format that
is used to store a scan file.
There are some interdependencies between
this control and the Color Mode settings. In
other words, there may be File Formats
listed in 24bit Color Mode that, if selected,
will change the Color Mode to something
other than 24bit Color (e.g. select 24bit
Color and then select PNM as the File
Format. 24bit Color changes to Grayscale
for the Color Mode).
Below is a table (
Figure 8.6
) that outlines
the available Color Mode/File Format
combinations, as well as their available
compression
types. Whether or not Invert is
an available function for the combination
selected is also designated for the
appropriate Color Mode setting.
