Installing and Configuring the AirSpeed
Video Servers
AirSpeed 5000 and AirSpeed Multi Stream are digital recorders or playback devices designed to
work seamlessly in MediaCentral environments. These video servers let you capture incoming media
directly into Avid shared storage or play out media to air.
Both AirSpeed video servers can join three Avid Service Framework workgroups, the MediaCentral
workgroup and the Command workgroup. The primary workgroup must be the MediaCentral
workgroup so ingests are transferred to Unity and media sent to playback are transferred to video
server.
Both AirSpeed 5000 and AirSpeed Multi Stream use the AirSpeed Multi Stream or AMS device
service, which can be configured to join multiple workgroups. The main reason for joining a second
workgroup will be to join the Command workgroup. Because the video servers are communicating
with multiple workgroups, they need to be added to the Lookup tab in the Workgroup Properties
application.
