The lines in the diagram are colored only to show the connections; they do not correspond to any
wire colors on an RJ45 cable. If you are using DB9 connectors, the inside of the RJ45 side of the
connector’s wires are counted from 8 to 1, with the connecting tab on top. The connector’s wire
colors are never consistent either, so Avid strongly recommends that you use a volt meter to confirm
the correct color wire for the 2, 4, 5, and 7 pins of the RJ45 cable, and then plug them into their
appropriate place on the DB9 connector.
If you are diagnosing connection problems using Avid Diagnostics, and the Command Video device
service shows the warning message, “Unable to create a VDCP channel on port COM58”, and the
details show that the port is in use, it means that the wire is not correct.
