Configuring the Perle IOLAN Server
MediaCentral Command supports 422 serial connection via the Perle IOLAN TCP/Serial port server,
which must be purchased separately from Command.
n
This is the only supported means of 422 communication with Windows 2008 and Windows 7. See the
MediaCentral Command ReadMe for latest supported versions of IOLAN software.
Additionally, the IOLAN server supports full VDCP redundancy. In earlier versions of Command,
mirrored channel configuration was required as a means for achieving VDCP redundancy.
Like the setup for the AirSpeed (classic) device service, the Video device service is installed on the
primary and backup Command Servers, and when the primary server fails, the VDS on the backup
server assumes control of the VDCP channels as part of the Command failover process.
