Newsroom Mgmt. Style Validation
Command users can turn off style validation in Newsroom Management. This is most useful for
graphics systems that create new items and need to have them sent to Command, even though they do
not exist in the Command inventory. For this feature to work, modification to the
SYSTEM.MAP
story
is required in Newsroom Management.
To turn off style validation:
1. From an iNEWS Workstation, open the first story in the
SYSTEM.MAP
queue.
2. Add a sixth column to the story with the word NO in it.
For example:
3. Click Save.
Editing the SYSTEM.MOS-MAP Story
The MOS-Map story, which is the first story in the
SYSTEM.MOS-MAP
queue, contains information
vital to the integration of plug-ins.
The MOS-Map story can be edited like any other story in the newsroom computer system; however,
access to it is typically limited to system administrators who already have access to
SYSTEM.MOS-
MAP
directory in Newsroom Management.
To edit the
SYSTEM.MOS-MAP
story:
1. Log in to an iNEWS Workstation as a system administrator.
2. Navigate to the
SYSTEM.MOS-MAP
queue.
3. Double-click on the first story in the queue.
4. Modify the story as needed.
5. Click Save.
Setting up the Plug-ins
Using plug-ins with Newsroom Management and MediaCentral Command is optional. Plug-ins are
installed on iNEWS Workstations and are accessed through the Newsroom Management client
software. The appearance of the plug-in(s) in Newsroom Management depends on whether one or
more were installed.
For instance, when more than one plug-in is installed, the title of the workspace—shown on the title
bar—changes, and the plug-in workspace will appear in the Newsroom Management window with
each plug-in on its own tab. If only one plug-in is installed, the Tools menu option will be the name
of that plug-in. Also, only one tab will appear in the plug-in workspace.
