Appendix C : SIA CODES
The AlphaVision NG control panel can use both the American SIA 2 protocol and the SIA HS protocol for
transmitting events. The default protocol is the SIA HS protocol. The name SIA stands for an American
committee for standardization. The regular SIA protocol is conform the American standard protocol, the
SIA HS protocol however, has a completely different modem connection. Alphatronics did this because the
regular SIA protocol is public, not secured and slow. The SIA HS protocol is encrypted, has an expanded
handshake procedure and is much faster.
Both the American SIA and the SIA HS protocol use SIA codes for transmitting the several different events.
The SIA codes used by the SIA HS protocol are the same as for the regular SIA protocol. For example,
when the system is armed, the monitoring station will always receive the SIA code “CL”, no matter if this
report was sent with the SIA HS or with the SIA protocol.
See the table below for explanation of the SIA codes. In this table all codes that are send by the AlphaVision
NG control panel are mentioned. More SIA codes exist, but these are not send by the AlphaVision NG
control panel.
