Telephone providers
The last few years, new telephone providers besides the KPN have begun to offer subscriptions which are
cheaper than the ‘regular’ subscriptions by KPN. For normal telephone calls, the quality will not be very
important but for a dialler such as the diallers used for the alarm transmissions, the quality of the telephone
connection is very important. Therefor we recommend to use the KPN network when transmitting alarms.
When the telephone connection is made by another provider (carrier preselect, such as Tele2 or OneTel), the
programmed telephone number can be preceded by ‘1655’. This way the connection is made by KPN and no
by one of the other providers. So when the dialler should dial 020-1234657, this becomes
1655
0201324657.
A telephone connection by cable (e.g. by UPC) is in most cases not suitable for alarm transmission.
DIAL PROTOCOL INFORMATION
The AlphaVision NG control panel is used in several countries and therefore several protocols that are not
used in the Netherlands are also programmed in the control panel. In this manual we will only discuss the
protocols used in the Netherlands.
With all protocols, except for the SIA-HS and the SIA level 2 protocols, only the events that have a dial
code other than 00 are transmitted. The advantage of the SIA-HS and SIA2 protocols is that when the
telephone numbers and the account number are programmed, the dialler will function properly.
For all other protocols the dial codes in screens 2 to 6 must be programmed to select which events are
reported and which are not.
SIA HIGH SECURITY (protocol 1, default)
The SIA HIGH SECURITY is for most monitoring stations the most advanced protocol. This protocol is
also abbreviated to SIA-HS or SHS. When a SIA-HS report is related to a zone, the zone name as
programmed in screen 1, is also send. A SIA-HS report takes about 3 to 4 seconds to complete (the time for
creating the connection not counted). The SIA-HS protocol is the most advanced as well as the most simple
to use protocol. When one report is received correct by the monitoring station, you can be sure that all other
reports will also be send to the monitoring station correctly.
An explanation on the SIA codes used by the SIA-HS protocol can be found in appendix B at page 91.
Attention:
When the arming and disarming events should not be reported, and the SIA-HS or the SIA
Level 2 protocol is used, the value programmed in screen 4 under the DC column should be changed to 99.
This is programmed as follows:
