Orion AquaMate Spectrophotometer User Manual 

Thermo Scientific 

Collecting a Baseline Scan and Scanning a Sample 

Note: If a 3-position or 6-position vial holder carousel is in use, the blank must be placed in the 
B position. The instrument always uses the B position to collect the baseline. 

Once the parameters have been set for the scan: 
1.

 

Press the Run Test function key. 

2.

 

Prepare the blank and sample that will be scanned. 

3.

 

Place the blank in the B position on the vial holder carousel and press the Collect 
Baseline function key. 

4.

 

While the instrument is taking the baseline, a “Collecting baseline” message will be shown 
indicating the progress of the baseline scan. After the baseline is measured, the message 
will update to “Baseline Collected”. Remove the blank from the sample compartment. 

 

5.

 

Place the sample in the appropriate position on the vial holder carousel. If needed, use the 
Sample Positioner keypad to set the vial location.  

6.

 

Press the Measure Sample function key. 

7.

 

When the scan is complete, a graph of the scanned measurement will be displayed. Press 
the Tabular/Graph function key to switch between tabular and graphical displays.
