Z-Max Surveying System Operation and Applications Manual

to the ground point. It is critical that the HI of the antenna above the
monument is measured accurately. A tool to measure the HI is included with
each GPS receiver (Figure 4.4). Use the tape measure to measure from the
center of the point to the measurement point of the Z-Max. The height from
the bottom of the GPS Receiver Module to the GPS Antenna Module is
printed on the outside of the Receiver Module housing.

7. Power-up system components

Power on the system by pressing the power button on the GPS Receiver
Module front panel for 2 seconds. The handheld computer (if used) is turned
on using the power button on its keyboard. Check that all components are
powered up. The GPS Receiver Module has an LED to indicate that power
has been applied and the receiver is on.

8. Configure GPS receiver to perform a Static survey

By default, the Z-Max system is configured to perform a static survey. When
turned on, the receiver automatically begins to collect and store data in a new
data file with a data recording interval of 20 seconds and an elevation mask of
10 degrees. These are the default settings for these parameters. These
settings can be changed either in the SURVCONF menu of the Z-Max front
panel user interface or by using the handheld computer running field
