Once you have an IP address, you can test the IP address from your Windows PC by using
the ping utility under MS DOS. To use the ping utility, bring up a DOS window using the
start menu:
Start>Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt
At the command prompt type:
ping <IP address>
This will send an IP ping request to the power source. For this to work, the power source
must be turned on and connected to the same network as the PC. Also, the power source
interface configuration must be set to use a baud rate of 460,800. If the IP address is found, it
will look like this:
Microsoft(R) Windows DOS
(C)Copyright Microsoft Corp 1990-2001.

SETTING A STATIC IP ADDRESS THROUGH ETHERNET, USB,
AND SERIAL INTERFACES
Ethernet
Locate the power supply and determine the IP address (see “LXI Discovery Browser
Software” on page 173). This address will be entered into the
Host
field of the Ethernet Test
Utility. The
Port
field should be set to the default of 5025.
If the power supply initially appears in DHCP mode, it would respond to the query,
SYST:COMM:LAN:ADDR?
, with “0.0.0.0”
To set a static IP address, use the following command,
SYST:COMM:LAN:ADDR “
N
”
where
N
will be the IP address of your choice. Query the command
SYST:COMM:LAN:ADDR?
to verify the static IP address has been set.
Following these steps the static IP address is now set.
