EXPRESS DAS Installation and Operations Manual – Version 2.2 November 2013

12.6.2 Validating the Downlink Path

1. Using the signal generator, set the desired Tx frequency and the output power to 0dBm.

2. Using the spectrum analyzer, verify the power level at the end of the cable connecting to the MDBU Tx

port at the BIU.

3. Using the spectrum analyzer, check the levels coming from the Tx monitor test ports at the front of the

MDBU. When the signal source is 0dBm, this value should be -20dBm.

4. Using the spectrum analyzer, check the levels coming from the BIU ODU Tx port.

5. Using the spectrum analyzer, check the levels at the end of the cable connection to the Tx port on the

ODU.

6. In the management software, verify the LD optical power.

7. Using the spectrum analyzer, check the levels coming out of the antenna port at the bottom of the

MRU.
