In the "OPEN" gripper condition, the seal must be widened
sufficiently so that a distance larger than zero (dimension u) is
created between the segment jaws and the shaft.
With the widened seal, the gripper can then be positioned at the
position / level of the seal groove of the shaft.

NOTE
