particular phrases that block messages – this is handy if you get
a lot of S M S spam on a particular topic. Y ou can even add a short
signature to your S M S messages.
Add ‘smileys’
We often use shorthand when writing S M S messages to save on
characters, since we’re only allowed 16 0 , as well as to make typing
faster. We’ve also become addicted to ‘smileys’, the little characters
that express how we’re feeling.
H appy and sad faces are the most
fre q uently used, but there are lots more. Y our Galaxy has a host
of them built in, covering a wide range of di ff erent sentiments:
laughter, confusion, indecision, foot-in-mouth, surprise and more.
Y ou can enter these into a text message using the characters that
combine to make them. F or example, :-) makes up a happy face
and :-[ is the combination for the embarrassed smiley. If you type
these into a message then its Android symbol is sent instead of
the constituent characters.
H owever, it’s more fun and often faster
to use the menu to send smileys instead. P lus, you won’t have to
remember lots of di ff erent combinations of keys.
