Get to grips with messaging on your Galaxy
Texting friends
and family
Texting is one of the most
popular uses of any phone
and your Galaxy has texting
down to a fi ne art. It’s
easy to take advantage of
its simple and accessible
interface to keep in touch
with all your family and
friends (
F ig 1).
Send a text message
Texting is about a lot
more than
j ust creating
and sending messages.
Suppose someone sends
you a website address in a
text message
– it becomes
a live link and you can
tap it to go straight to the
site. Alternatively, if someone texts you a phone number then
j ust
tapping it will bring up a menu from which you can call them or
add them to your contacts (
F ig 2).
There’s another potentially useful item on that menu too: C opy
message text. Imagine you want to take a bit of an S M S and put it
into an email, or even send text from one S M S to a new recipient –
with this command you can copy the text and then paste it straight
into any other app that supports text.
S M S messages are ‘threaded’, meaning that you can see a
conversational view between you and the person you are chatting
to.
Y ou might not always want to keep every message, though, and
if you long-press on any particular message you can delete it. Y ou
